It’s WORLD BOOK DAY!
Reading is important to everyone, young and old! It can inspire an imagination, teach young children about the world and encourage friendships to grow.
World Book Day is the biggest book campaign in the world that aims to provide every child with a book of their own. It is a registered charity that, after the most successful year to date in 2018, is back with new initiatives to try and get more books into the hands of people who would otherwise struggle to have access to books.
The main aim of Book Day is to encourage children and young adults to appreciate books and the freedom they can offer. Across schools and groups throughout the UK and the world, children are encouraged to dress up and talk about their favourite books and characters and spread the joy with others. The organisation offers tokens to schools, allowing children to purchase specially selected books for only £1.

So, while World Book Day is mainly about fun and dressing-up, make sure you encourage your children to understand the true meaning behind it – allowing less fortunate people to have access to books.
Make sure you head over to the World Book Day website and enter their competitions, print off activities and learn more about the wonderful world of books!
