The original Salt Water designs started during World War 2, when Walter Hoy began making sandals from the cut-offs of leather from military boots. Soon, people were demanding more and more of his clever and stylish designs. Combined with rust-proof metal tongue buckles and produced in a wide choice of colours and designs, the quality and heritage of Salt Waters is rarely beaten.
Technology behind Salt Water sandals.
The leather is coated with a water resistant sealant and they mould to the user’s feet with repeated wear. The brass buckles allow straps to be adjusted for different width fittings. They can be worn on the beach and by the pool, with no worries about wrinkling leather or tarnishing metal. This also means that they can be put in the washing machine on a cool wash with a gentle detergent – result!
